Description:

This is an excellent example of a early DWM Model 1900 "American Eagle" commercial Luger pistol. These pistols were the true first commercial contract Luger pistols produced by DWM and can be found in the 2000-20000 serial number range with this specific being produced at about mid-production . These pistols were specifically intended for sales in the U.S. market as indicated by the use of the American Eagle over the chamber area. It has the standard DWM markings on the front toggle. This pistol has all the early features, such as the dished toggles with toggle lock on the right side, recessed breechblock, 4 3/4 inch fast tapered barrel, grip safety, and no stock lug. They had superb hand fitted parts with the beautiful pre-war high polish rust blued finish with the straw colored small parts with checkered walnut grips. The lower safety area is unmarked and left with the bright polish. It is correctly serial numbered in the commercial fashion with the serial number (9046) stamped under the barrel and on the front of the frame which is also marked "GERMANY". It is complete with one magazine, the nickel plated body, and the unnumbered wooden base with no proof marks.

Rating Definition:

Very fine as partially refinished (cold blue on bottom grip straps) with 90% of the original blue finish on the balance with edge and high spot wear, blue loss on the lower areas of the front and rear grip straps, the side plate and front edges of the frame rails. The various small parts retain 65% of their original straw colors overall. The grips are in fine condition with nice distinct checkering on both sides with the right grip having a small chip directly under the safety lever with a compression bruise in the middle of the grip with the right grip showing a more brown color overall with more wear across the tops of the checking. A solid representative example of a commercial American Eagle Luger pistol.
