This is an example of a sliding breech single shot rifle with Belgian proofs. The barrel moves forward for loading and unloading and has an extractor. The barrel is released by a cocking lever on the left side of the receiver. When the cocking lever is in the down position the rifle is cocked. The consignor notes state that the rifle is a prototype. The left barrel flat is stamped with a "star/L" and a "Liege ELG" proof at the breech. The left side of the receiver is stamped with a "star/L" along with an illegible marking. The rifle is equipped with fixed sights. The half stock features checkering on the forearm and wrist and is fitted with a shotgun style casehardened buttplate. The left sock flat is stamped "38 140 WCF". The receiver is also casehardened with a blue barrel and trigger guard.

Fine. The barrel retains streaks of blue finish, otherwise faded to a smooth plum patina. The trigger guard retains traces of blue finish with the balance a smooth brown patina. The receiver retains most of the vivid case colors and the buttplate retains 80% case colors. The stock is fine with some minor pressure dents and scratches and two holes from now removed sling swivel bases with overall crisp checkering. Mechanically fine.
