Produced in limited quantity by the Rock Island Arsenal circa 1973-1974, the Model 15 General Officer Pistol started life as U.S. Model 1911/1911A1 pistols in government stores, which were then refinished and upgraded to make a handsome yet functional Combat Commander-style sidearm. These specific example is not one of those, but is made from original parts (excluding frame). Fitted with a set of raised fixed sights, with "General Officer Model/RIA" on the left side of the slide and "P" on top. Fitted with a nickel finished barrel, long trigger and serrated hammer, a serrated front strap, half-checkered arched mainspring with lanyard staple, and a pair of checkered grips, fitted with a metal Rock Island Arsenal icon on the left and an unmarked nickel inscription panel on the left.
