This rifle replaced the Model 1903 in 1933 and is considered by many to be the best semi-automatic rimfire rifle ever produced. Manufactured in 1949, this example has a dovetail front and elevation adjustable sporting rear sights, and is mounted on a smooth forearm and pistol grip stock with tubular magazine and checkered steel buttplate. The left side of the barrel has the Winchester trade mark information and "MODEL 63 .22 LONG RIFLE/SUPER SPEED AND SUPER X".
Very fine as partially refinished, with 97% of the current blue finish. The barrel and receiver show small areas of minor edge wear and light handling marks. The standard Winchester proofs appear to be poorly struck, or possibly over struck. The revarnished wood is very fine, with small scattered pressure indentations and minor surface scratches. Mechanically excellent.
