Civil War Gallager Breech-Loading Carbine

17,728 Gallager carbines were manufactured by Richardson & Overman during the Civil War. This example has the distinctive round barrel without a forearm, pinched front sight blade, folding rear sight, patch box on the right side of the stock, and sling bar and ring on the left side of the stock wrist. The lock plate has the serial number "17506" along with the standard Gallager patent date and Richardson & Overman markings behind the hammer. The stock has a "1" stamped on the left side, and the barrel has a "D" at the breech on the left. The Gallager Carbine was extensively issued to Federal Cavalry regiments during the Civil War.

ConditionGood with a refinished stock. The metal surfaces are mostly bright with extensive patches of light to mild pitting and some light spotting. The stock is very good with some scratches, bruising and small chips. The action is excellent, and the markings are crisp.
