William W. Marston of New York City manufactured an estimated 1,500 Three-Barrel .22 deringers in the late 1850s through the early 1860s. Of those pistols, only approximately 400 were manufactured with spear point daggers. The dagger is marked with the matching serial number and is fitted on the left side of the barrel group. The pistol has light vine engraving. The left side of the frame is marked "WM. W. MARSTON/PATENTED/MAY 26.1857/NEW YORK CITY". The right side of the action has a round switch that automatically switches the firing pin from one barrel to the next and is then turned back to the first manually when reloading. The pistol has a small blade front sight and integral notch rear sight and is fitted with a set of varnished walnut grips.
Very good. The barrels and blade display a mottled gray patina while the frame displays an even aged patina and crisp markings. The grips are very good with some slight handling wear. The action is fine.
