Description:

The Blake Repeating Rifle was manufactured by J.H. Blake, New York circa approximately 1890s to 1910 in an unknown but limited quantity after failing to secure government contracts due to the adoption of the Krag bolt action rifles and carbines. It was designed with a unique seven round rotary magazine which is inserted from the bottom of the receiver. The bottom of the receiver has a hinged door which allows access to the magazine. The left side of the receiver has a lever that can be switched from "SINGLE" to "RAPID" firing. It has a dovetailed blade front sight (bead absent) and the rear sight is an adjustable military type graduated to 1,800 yards. It has a full blue finish aside from the bright bolt assembly and a nearly full length walnut forearm, half length hand guard and checkered pistol grip stock with three barrel bands, bayonet lug, cleaning rod, serrated steel butt plate, swivels on the front and middle barrel bands and sling swivel stud on the bottom of the butt.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. 70% of the original blue finish remains with some areas browned out and patches of minor oxidation. The wood is also in very fine condition overall with nice original medium brown oil finish, some pressure marks and scrapes and crisp checkering. The action is excellent.
