Description:

Manufactured after 1856. This pocket pistol is marked "DERINGER/PHILADEL'A" at the center of the lock plate and on the breech. It has floral scroll designs on many of the components; several of the German silver accents, including the unmarked initial shield on the upper wrist and tear drop buttplate, have are smooth. It is very similar in design to known Henry Deringer pistols but has a series of English proofs on the underside of the barrel along with a small cut in the bottom of the barrel, "H&S", and faint "11" marks. The barrel has another small cut half an inch ahead of the breech. It has fixed blade and notch sights, a checkered bird's head stock, and includes an ebony ramrod with brass tip.

Rating Definition:

Very good as period refinished. The barrel retains more than half of the fading brown finish and traces of case colors remain on the breech and lock plate. The hammer has refreshed brilliant case colors. The stock is fine with some chips near the lock inlet and some minor cracks. The checkering remains crisp, and the action is excellent. Most of the markings and engraving patterns remain clear. A very good example of the iconic 19th century derringer style pocket pistols.
