These Colt 2nd Model Derringers were manufactured between 1870 and 1890 after Colt purchased the National Arms Company which also manufactured pistols of this pattern. The barrels have a round blade front sights and are marked "+COLT'S PT.F.A. MFG.C /HARTFORD CT.U.S.A" followed by "NO 2+". The matching serial numbers are stamped on the butts and barrels. The underside of the barrels are also marked with British proof marks. Each is fitted with checkered walnut grips. The right side of gun A only is marked with "41 CAL", and both frames feature scroll engraving patterns. The pair comes in a fitted case with Fred T. Baker label on the inside of the lid, an oiler, combination bore rod and screw driver, and compartments for accessories.

Fine. The pistol retains 50% plus of the original blue finish with gray and brown patina on the balance and strong case colors on the hammer. The frame has a gray patina with some light spotting. The grips are fine with some high spot wear and light scratches. Mechanically excellent, and the markings are crisp. The case is fine with some chips on the edges and cracks in the bottom panel.
