Description:

Designed and manufactured in Liege, Belgium, the Clement Model 1903 was a competitor to Browning's pocket pistols. Though the firm went out of business as a result of World War I, the 1903's descendants found new life as Smith & Wesson's 35 Automatic Pistol. In a deviation from Clement's regular production, this model has the barrel being a separate piece from the top strap of the frame, being threaded to the top strap and retained by a small screw. While no documentation was provided with this pistol, this could very well be either a very early production variant or a prototype. Blade and notch sights with the one-line Liege address on the left side of the upper receiver, a push-through safety/bolt lock on the frame, matching numbers on the frame and bolt, and checkered "CC" monogram grips.

Rating Definition:

Fair, showing areas of mild pitting under period refurbished blue, bright edge wear and scattered handling marks. The grips are undersized replacements, likely from a later production Clement. The magazine is absent. Mechanically fair.
