Description:

This is a very nice example of a scarce, fully transferable, fully functional WWII M3 SMG (grease gun) manufactured by the Guide Lamp division of General Motors. These weapons were developed circa 1941-1942 based on the British STEN design of using stamped and welded steel parts with the intent of it being a wartime expedient SMG to use along with the more complicated and costly Thompson Submachine Gun. The majority of these weapons were converted to the "A1" standard after 1944, but this example remains in its original configuration with the cocking handle on the right. It has the fixed front and rear sight on top of the receiver. The left side of the magazine well is marked: "SUB-MACH GUN/CAL. 45 M3" over the "Guide" marking with the Crossed Cannons Ordnance proof over "U S/NO 185770". It retains its original combination safety/dust cover, original telescoping wire stock and comes with three 30 round stick magazines.

Rating Definition:

Very fine as reparkerized after WWII with 98% of a parkerized finish overall. Somewhere during its use, an additional sling bar was welded on to the left side over the magazine release button partially obliterating the upper and lower receiver markings, but you can still see the US Ordnance proofs and factory markings. NOTE: This item is restricted as a National Firearms Act (NFA), Fully Automatic Weapon that is currently registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco Firearms and Explosives (BATF&E) that has been classified as a "Curios or Relic" as defined in 27 CFR, 478.11. These weapons are still subject to the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 478.
