Description:

The pattern 1796 light cavalry saber was the British regulation light cavalry saber during the Napolenic war. The saber has a 32 1/2 inch curved single fuller blade, marked "WOOLLEY&CO" on the spine. The saber has a non-regulation brass hilt and smooth leather wrapped grip. The non-regulation brass scabbard has two suspension rings and a flat drag. This may be a privately purchased cavalry sword.

Rating Definition:

Good. The blade shows a mixed gray patina overall, with some dents on the spine and blade, dark age spots, and evidence of light sharpening. Some dings and casting voids are present in the hilt, with the grip having lightly shrunk with age. The scabbard is fair, with a split ring and scattered dents and dark spots.
