This is an exceptionally nice example of an early Colt Model 1903 Pocket (hammer) semi automatic pistol as produced in 1921, from the prestigious Dr. Joseph A. Murphy collection. This wonderful example is accompanied by a Colt factory letter dated August 1995, verifying this example as being shipped to Tritch Hardware Co, Denver, Colorado in Feb 1921. The left side of the slide has the two-block, two-line Colt patent dates (1897 and 1902) and Colt factory address with the Rampant Colt behind the slide serrations. The right side of the slide is marked with: "AUTOMATIC COLT/CALIBRE 38 RIMLESS SMOKELESS". The serial number "43965" is marked on the left side of the frame. The left side of the trigger guard bow is marked with the number "1" over the Colt triangle "VP" proof. It has the all blue finish with the bright polished chamber area, casehardened hammer and fixed sights. It is fitted with the Colt checkered, black plastic grips with the "COLT" markings at the top of each grip. It is complete with one all blued magazine marked: "Cal. 38/COLT", on the base plate.
