Description:

Manufactured in 1970, this example of one of just 1,396 nickel plated Second Generation Single Action Army revolvers in .45 Colt with a 5 1/2 inch barrel. Only the 4 3/4 inch barreled version is rarer in this caliber and even then by just twelve guns. For comparison, some 16,387 produced in the same caliber and barrel length but in blue and casehardened finish according to the factory records discussed by Wilkerson in THE POST WAR COLT SINGLE-ACTION REVOLVER, 1955-1975. It has the standard and features including the matching serial numbers on the grip straps, frame, and cylinder (partial) and the matching assembly number on the loading gate and right rear of the frame. It is fitted with a pair of smooth walnut grips numbered to the gun (faint) with silver Colt medallions and includes an original stagecoach box with correct markings and fitted interior (not numbered).

Rating Definition:

Near new in box with some light handling storage marks and very faint cylinder rotation marks. The box is good with some tears, tape, and general storage type wear. An excellent example overall of a rarer standard production variant of the Second Generation Single Action Army revolver.
