A Victorian era Officer's quilted shako of the 24th Regiment of Foot circa 1868-1871 with a cork body with blue stitched cloth. The front peak is patent leather. A gilt, 8 point rayed star badge with a Victorian crown at the top and in the center is a cut out "24". There is a white over red pompon at the top center with a "VR" cypher on the gilt boss. At the top rear is a Medusa badge. The peak is lined with green skived leather. The sweat band is natural leather, a red silk lining and a black patent leather chin strap.
