This Officer's Home Service pattern helmet circa 1885 features a gilt plate of an eight-pointed star with a Victorian crown at the top. On top of the star are acanthus laurels with a silver regimental title banner and in the center is a silver Welsh dragon in a garter circle. Gilt spike on a cross base and gilt, leather and velvet backed chin chain. Dark green skived leather lining on the peaks, a crimson skived leather brow band and a crimson silk lining with a "J. HASLETT WOOLWICH" circular maker's label.
