This Victorian era Officer's 1878 Home Service pattern helmet of the South Wales Borderers features a four-panel body composed of cork with a blue cloth exterior and a South Wales Borders gilt plate on a rayed eight-point star with a laurel wreath. At the top is the typical gilt four pronged base with a spike. The leather backed gilt chin chain is suspended by Tudor rose ear bosses. The interior is lined in green fabric with an orange vinyl sweat band.
