A) French Percussion Target Pistol

The top of the barrel of each pistol is marked "A. Maquaire a Paris", and the undersides have St. Etienne proofs. A "1" is marked on the barrel and breech plug of gun A, and a "2" is marked in the same positions on gun B. Gun A also has a "4_" at the breech on the underside whereas gun B has only the "_". The "1" and "2" markings are also on the other components including the wedges. The pistols have blade and notch sights, scroll engraving on most of the components, double set triggers, and checkered walnut stocks. The included hardwood case has "DEPOT DE PARIS/A MAQUARIE AGENT" marked on the inside of the lid. The purple velvet lined interior is fitted to the pistols and the accessories which include: cleaning tools including a rod and oiler, hand tools, loading tools including a bullet mold, an unopened French tin of percussion caps, two empty round containers, a single lead ball, and a key. Amédée Maquaire was a Parisian wholesaler.

ConditionGood as completely refinished. The barrel retains nearly all of the blue finish with only a few minor marks. The remaining components retain most of the case colors with the colors silvered on the wedge and wedge escutcheons. The stock is very fine with crisp checkering and only a few minor pressure marks and faint scratches. It is mechanically excellent and has mostly crisp markings and engraving patterns. The case is very good with some general storage wear. The interior has marks on the faded and stained lid from the pressure applied by the accessories and pistols and is otherwise very good. The accessories overall are very good.

ConditionGood as completely refinished. The barrel retains nearly all of the blue finish with some small marks. 80% of the case colors remain with some areas silvered out. The stock is very good with sharp checkering and some minor pressure marks and small scrapes. The action is excellent, and the markings and engraving patterns are mostly crisp.
