This rifle is marked with "eagle/USN/SPRINGFIELD/1870" on the right side of the frame, the two-line Remington patent information on the upper tang, an anchor on the top of the barrel at the breech, and "P./H.B.R" on the left side of the barrel at the breech. It features blade front and folding rear sights, military style forend and smooth straight grip buttstock with an "ESA" cartouche on the left and a "US" marked rifle buttplate.
