This Griffin & Howe rifle was built on a Springfield Model 1903 action. "No. 1394 GRIFFIN & HOWE INC, NEW YORK" is marked on the barrel on top near the center, and the caliber designation "30-06 GOV." is on the left near the breech. The front receiver ring is stippled. It has a beaded blade front sight on a stippled ramp with a hood, a Lyman receiver sight mounted on the right side of the action and the base of a Griffin & Howe quick release scope mount on the left. It is fitted on a pistol grip stock with multi-point checkering, a horn forend cap, steel grip cap, and Pachmayr recoil pad. There is a band with a sling swivel stud on the barrel a few inches ahead of the forend and a second stud on the bottom of the butt.

Very fine as professionally custom built. 95% plus of the blue finish remains. There is some fading on the bolt handle, trigger guard, and right side of the receiver along with a few scattered scratches and some high edge and cycling type wear. There is some slight marring at the muzzle. The bolt remains mostly bright with some light spotting. The wood is also very fine with sharp checkering and only a few minor marks. The action remains excellent and the visible markings are clear.
