Description:

Produced in 1975, this is a 1/3 scale functional copy of the Colt/Gatling Model 1874. Though reduced in size, every bit of the original mechanism is represented and functional. Measuring 20 inches in overall length and 4 1/2 inches across the trunnions, the gun is constructed primarily from brass with a rotating assembly of 10 steel barrels, a small Colt/Gatling information plaque on the main body, and hand signed "Made by/Karl J. Furr & Paul J. Kuhn/Orem, UT. June 1975" on the bottom. Ammunition is fed through a Broadwell magazine, a cylindrical grouping of 16 individual gravity-powered magazines, and the traverse mechanism has a built-in oscillating device for area bombardment. The carriage measures 18 inches tall at the wheel, 24 inches wide across the axle and 35 inches long, hardwood construction with brass hardware, quick-detach wheels and mounting assembly, elevation adjustment mechanism with lock-out screw, a folding gunner's seat and a towing hitch. Multiple components of the gun and carriage bear the matching serial number "26".

Rating Definition:

Excellent. Some mild spotting is present on the barrels, and the metal is bright overall. Wear is present on the brass components appropriate to use. The wood is very fine with mild varnish wear. Part of the retention chain for the left mounting bracket is absent. Mechanically excellent. A top-notch hand crafted example of a classic American firearm and a masterpiece of the gunsmith's art.
