The letter states that the pistol was a sample and display pistol kept by the Colt factory. The left side of the slide is marked "COLT" flanked by "CONVERSION/UNIT" and "AUTOMATIC/CAL. 22 L.R." with Rampant Colt. The right side of the slide is marked with the one line Hartford address. The address appears again on the right side of the frame.
