Horses drinking from the mountain stream by French artist P.J. Mene (19th Century). This very large bronze depicts a small herd of horses including one stallion, three mares and a fold all sharing the abundance of a free flowing cold water mountain stream. The stallion is looking ahead for signs of trouble while the remaining herd is partaking of the water. This great polychromed animalier study was done by one of France's great animalier sculptors and is signed on the base of the bronze ground plinth. The bronze dimensions are 20 inches in height, 25 in width, 46 inches in length and weighs approximately 150 pounds. A great outdoor bronze sculpture of a family of horses.

Excellent. The base has a dark brown patina with a blue/green stream of water through the middle. The horses are a light to medium smooth brown patina. The bronze has only slight handling marks.
