Manufactured in 1905. The top of the barrel ahead of the rear sight slot is marked with the two line address/1884 patent date and the top at the breech and is marked with the Winchester oval proof followed by "38 W.C.F.". The Winchester proof is also marked on the top of the receiver at the breech and the serial number is marked on the underside. The barrel is equipped with a combination folding globe sight marked "PAT. AUG 31, 80 - JULY 14, 91" along the top and the rear sight slot has a filler block. The upper tang is fitted with a Lyman short range peep sight blue barrel, magazine tube and receiver, and casehardened remaining metal parts. Mounted with a fancy nicely grained smooth walnut forearm with a steel end cap and straight grip stock with a nickel plated brass Swiss buttplate. The accompanying factory letter verifies the rifle configuration, caliber, round barrel, plain trigger, "Fancy Stock", Lyman front and rear sights with "Blank in rear seat" Swiss buttplate, that it was received in the warehouse on November 23, 1905, and shipped to order number 37450 the next day.

Fine. The rifle retains 60% original blue finish with some muzzle and high edge wear, a small area of minor pitting on the barrel, some scattered minor spotting on the barrel, as well as thinning and flaking on the receiver. The hammer retains almost all of the original vivid case colors and the remaining metal parts have a smooth brown and gray patina with strong original case colors in protected areas of the lever. 30% of the original nickel remains on the buttplate and the exposed brass has a very pleasant aged patina. The wood is excellent with a few scattered small dings and pressure dents. The markings are crisp and clear. The action is excellent. A very nice Model 1892 with some unique documented special order features.
