This revolving rifle has a Remington New Model style frame, but has no visible Remington markings. Also has several differences in design, such as the location of the rear sight further forward on the barrel, only partially scalloped junction between the stock and the rear of the frame, lack of trigger guard finial and some other slight variations. The top of the barrel has "PH" or "JH" in hand cut script flanked by floral motifs. Similar floral patterns are on the upper tang and patch box. The period replaced straight wrist walnut stock has a series of German silver furniture including a squirrel, buck and dog on the left; crescent buttplate, double diamond wrist plates, diamond on the bottom, and a round patch box on the right. It is equipped with a brass blade front sight, empty dovetail for a rear sight at the front of the octagonal section, and a brass trigger guard.
