Description:

Although the maker remains unknown, this highly artistic pistol was crafted by a master craftsman from the period. In fact, the work is so well executed that this pistol was likely commissioned as a presentation piece for quite possibly a chieftan of a tribe. The lock plate and hammer are silver and feature an engraved floral pattern with "NONO" (possible a signature) marked on the lock plate ahead of the frizen spring. The hammer screw and pan are highlighted in gold. Fitted with fixed sights (notched rear, pin ahead of the blade front); the blade front sight is gold plated. The Damascus barrel exhibits a raised gold inlaid pattern running along the top from the breech to the start of the barrel cover. The stock and front portion of the barrel are covered in metal panels. The panel also makeup the faux ramrod. These panels have nearly full coverage of a tightly woven rope scroll pattern that incorporates plain scrolls, silver plated diamonds and beaded bouquets. All the stock work is done in metals. The ornate pattern extends to the trigger guard.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The barrel retains traces of the Damascus pattern and otherwise a smooth gray patina. The front lock plate screw is missing. The stock panels are fine and have taken on an overall attractive aged patina.
