Description:

This pair of pistols has "WHEELER" on the left side and "LONDON" on the right side of the actions along with some light engraving accents. The underside of the actions under the flash pan have pairs of crown and cross scepter proofmarks. Gun B also has an additional "R" stamp in between the two proofs and a "1" at the breech on the barrel and action. Robert Wheeler had a shop in London beginning around 1767. The firm was renamed Robert Wheeler & Son in 1813 and remained active until 1830. Wheeler is known to have produced an array of pistols (including box locks) and long guns for government contracts as well as export. The pistols feature cannon style screw off barrels and walnut grips with silver wire inlaid designs and face shaped silver buttcaps which have several small stamps.

Rating Definition:

Good. The brass has a varied aged patina while the iron remains bright with some slight pitting and strike marks. The grip is also good with some small dents and minor scratches. The action is fine, and the marking and designs are clear.

Rating Definition:

Good. The brass has an aged patina with some variance in tones. The iron is mostly bright with some light pitting and gray patina. The wood is also good with some minor marks and dings. The markings are mostly clear aside from the floral design on the trigger guard. The action is functional but need some minor adjustments.
