Civil War Martially Inspected Colt Model 1860 Army Percussion Revolver

Manufactured in 1863 with a three-screw frame cut for a shoulder stock. The top of the barrel is marked with the one-line New York address and "COLTS/PATENT" on the left side of the frame. "L" marked on the left rear of the barrel, "P" and "S" on the cylinder, and a "D" behind the trigger guard bow and at the top of the back strap. The matching serial number is on the barrel, frame, trigger guard, and back strap, with the partial serial number "7644" on the wedge and cylinder pin. A partial "7" and "5" are visible on the cylinder. The cylinder has the Texas naval battle scene and is marked "COLTS PATENT" and "PAT SEPT 10TH 1850". Blue barrel, cylinder, and back strap, casehardened remaining steel surfaces and brass trigger guard. Fitted with a smooth one-piece wood grip with a small contrasting darkened metal diamond and rectangle insert on the lower left side, and a large bone diamond inset on the right side.

ConditionFair. The metal surfaces have a smooth brown and gray patina. There are a number of dings on the both sides of the barrel in the area of the wedge. The cylinder scene is very faint and the remaining markings are clear. The grip is good as altered with a moderate chip on the upper left side and on both toes. There is some wear on the lower edges and a few minor dings. The action is fine.
