Stock: walnut

Description:

The pistol features a rifled Damascus barrel marked with an "E/LG/*" proof on the left flat and fitted with a small blade front sight. The barrel tang has an integral notch rear sight. The lock is marked "A'Liege" and has attractively shaped pan and frizzen accents and a border design. Most of the furniture has floral style engraving, and a lion is engraved on the trigger guard. The barrel is fitted to the full length walnut stock by two wedges. The stock has a checkering and studs on the grip, appears to have had wire inlay along the top of the grip and around the wedges, and a stud border on the butt. Included with the pistol is a wooden ramrod with metal tip. The grip shape, rifling, set trigger, and ornamentation suggests this pistol may have been part of a dueling pistol set.

Rating Definition:

Good. The metal surfaces primarily display gray patina with some areas of brown and light spotting. The barrel has visible but light patterns along its length. The markings and designs are clear. The trigger guard tang is cracked. The wood is fair as refinished and repaired with crisp checkering, scattered minor pressure marks and scratches, a few chips particularly along the lock inlet, cracks on the forend (most repaired), and wire inlay around the front wedge on the right. The lock needs some work as it will not hold half or full cock, and the cock appears to be a replacement.
