Description:

Intended for use with the late-World War II "Type G" FG42 Paratrooper Rifle. The overall design of the Paratrooper bayonet draws inspiration from the French cruciform spike bayonet of the inter-War era, designed to be stowed beneath the barrel in a socket that doubled as the bayonet lug. The chief differences between the early and late style bayonets were the elimination of the knurled grip ring and the replacement of a threaded endcap with a flat disk peened into place, both changes made to speed up production and reduce machining steps. Overall length is 10 1/2 inches, with a 7 1/4 inch spike and "gcy" (the makers code of L. O. Dietrich of Altenburg) on the body.

Rating Definition:

Excellent with 97% plus original phosphate finish, some light wear and scuffing overall. The lock mechanism is in good order. A fine bayonet, which would be a rarity in a collection of Nazi close-combat weapons or just the thing to complete a Type G Paratrooper Rifle.
