Description:

This WG Army revolver was manufactured around the 1890s. It is marked "ARMY & NAVY C.S.L." on the top of the rib, "'W.G. ARMY MODEL" on the left side of the top strap, "455/476" on the barrel lug, "WEBLEY/PATENT" and "[winged bullet logo]/ W&S" on the left side of the frame. It also has matching serial numbers and British proofs. The back strap has been inscribed "W.H.G. THORNE". It was likely purchased by a British officer from an Army & Navy Co-operative Society Ltd. Store in England or British colonial holding. A telegram dated January 31, 1919, in the U.K. National Archives reads "Major W.H.B. Thorne. Government of Barbados not prepared to provide passage for Thorne if his intention is to resign next May. Free passage however would be recommended to Legislature on condition that Thorne remains in the service for 12 months." It has a German silver blade front sight, a latch notch rear sight, and checkered walnut grips.

Rating Definition:

Good as partially refinished. The balance revolver retains 50% of the original finish mixed with a brown patina. The left side plate has an aged cold blue finish. The moderately worn grips are very good with some minor marks in the otherwise crisp checkering. The action is fine, and the markings are legible.
