Manufactured by the Nagoya Arsenal, the Type 2 was a specialized takedown variant of the Type 99 Arisaka for issue to paratroopers. As Japanese parachute technology made jumping with a full-sized rifle impractical the Type 2 would be carried disassembled and then snapped together on landing. Fitted with an inverted "V" front sight and folding ladder rear sight with A-A wings, standard receiver markings, untouched mum, matching "543" assembly number on the takedown hardware, and matching serial number on the underside of the barrel, bayonet lug and bolt components. Fitted with a smooth pistol grip stock. Included with the rifle is a green plastic muzzle cover, a brown leather sling, and a paratrooper-style bayonet (9 3/4" overall, 5 1/4" blade, smooth wood grip, trimmed-down guard) with sheath and frog.

Excellent with 97% plus of the original blue finish, showing areas of heavy spotting and scattered handling marks. The stock is very fine with mild scuffs and dings. The sheath shows mild cracking, and the frog shows a number of scuffs and cuts. The bayonet has been heavily sharpened, and arsenal shortened. Mechanically excellent.
