Description:

This is a scarce example of a WWII Nazi Kampfpistole that was manufactured by the Erma factory. These early kampf-pistols were based on the original Leuchtpistole (flare pistols) design, only they were intended to be used as both a signaling and a "anti-personal" weapon, as they had a unique rifled barrel that could shoot a 25mm rifle grenade, which were the same type of round as used in the K98 service rifle grenade launchers. They are easily identified as the side of the barrel were stamped with a large capital letter "Z" that was filled with luminous paint. When originally issued they had a short sheet metal folding stock with an auxiliary side mounted folding grenade launcher sight (neither item is included with this pistol). These were made for only a short time frame as the later versions were made with a smooth bore barrel strictly intended for flare pistols. It is stamped on the left side of the frame with "ayf/40" the makers code and year of manufacture with right side stamped with the double "Eagle/280" Waffenamt and a single Eagle firing proof. It is fitted with the standard wartime black plastic grips with a lanyard loop on the butt of the pistol.

Rating Definition:

Fine with 75% of the black anodized finish overall with edge and high spot wear with some more thinning on the left side of the barrel. The trigger guard and loading lever shows some minor light corrosion/rust. The grips are very good showing light wear with some unidentified residue present in the checkering from wartime use. A very scarce WWII Nazi Kampfpistole.
