Pair of Engraved Loffler Percussion Pistols

A) Loffler Percussion Pistol

The lock plate, barrel tang and hammer feature a near full coverage floral scroll deep relief engraving. The lock plate is signed "LOFFLER", a German gunmaker from Hanover, circa 1850. "No. 1" is script marked ahead of the fixed notched rear sight. The barrel has a German silver blade front sight. The spur trigger guard is engraved with a floral scroll pattern and has a pineapple finial. Equipped with a set trigger. The full length stock has a horn forend cap, single barrel wedge with German silver escutcheon, and checkering in the grip area. The ebony ramrod has a German silver tip.

ConditionVery good. The barrel has a dark mottled gray patina with the remaining metal surfaces having an overall smooth gray patina. The stock is also very good showing a number of minor pressure dents and scratches and a deep gouge (underside of forearm) with a few blemishes in the overall crisp checkering. Mechanically fine.
