This revolver is a close copy of the Webley Bull Dog revolver and was manufactured in the late 19th century in Belgium and is marked "ACIER FONDU" on the left side of the barrel at the breech. The top strap is marked "BRITISH/BULLDOG", and there are some Liege proof marks on the cylinder and frame. The cylinder and frame also have floral and punch dot engraving patterns. A geometric pattern extends down the back strap, and a matching pattern is on the trigger guard. It has a round blade front sight, frame groove rear sight, and is fitted with smooth grips. The revolver comes in a gray velvet upholstered case with a golden lion emblem on the inside of the lid. The interior is fitted to the gun and also has a slot for the matching cleaning rod, a cartridge block, and an plaque marked "PRESENTED BY L.O.L.No [1616]/APRIL 15. 95/[?]EST LADY WA[??]"(letters in brackets not clear). While Colt, Remington, and Smith & Wesson revolvers receive the most attention for their use in the legendary American "West", Webley Bull Dog revolvers and the copies made by many other firms were among the most popular firearms in Europe and throughout the U.S. They were less expensive, more compact, and still packed a solid punch. A brace of R.I.C. revolvers (Bull Dog predecessors) are believed to have been carried by Custer at his last stand, and William "Billy the Kid" Bonney had a Bull Dog early on. President Garfield's assassin used one. They were also used by employees of the Southern Pacific Railroad.
