Description:

This factory engraved revolver is one of scarce seven shot variations of the medium frame revolvers produced during the 1880s by Hopkins & Allen for Merwin, Hulbert & Co. It has the desirable folding hammer, smooth mother of pearl grips, and distinctive factory punch dot engraving designs including a dragon fly on the left side plate. The barrel rib is marked with the two line Merwin, Hulbert & Co. address and patent information, and the left side of the frame is marked "32 CAL. 7 SHOT". The right side of the folding hammer spur has the two line patent marking. The matching serial number is marked on the barrel lug, cylinder, and butt. It has the standard round blade front sight and frame groove rear sight. The hammer and trigger are casehardened and the remainder is nickel plated. It has a squared butt.

Rating Definition:

Excellent. The revolver retains 95% of the original nickel plating with some flaking and light pitting/oxidation. The hammer and trigger retains strong remnants of the partially faded case colors. The grips are excellent with some light aging and bright iridescent undertones. The action is excellent and the markings and designs are mostly crisp. These seven shot revolvers are scarce and factory engraved examples are even harder to find let alone in this high condition.
