The highest grade executed by Remington's Custom Shop, a Premier Remington started life from a set of hand-picked and fitted components, receiving an expert touch from the very beginning. The engraving alone could take upward of 40 hours, and the arm would be completed with top-grade hand checkered furniture. The model is most famous as the shotgun that introduced thousands of Army Air Force to the art of aerial gunnery. This example has received the full Custom Shop treatment. The barrel is numbered to match the receiver with a date code of "DUU" (September 1949), dual bead sights, 2 3/4 inch chamber, and a pair of six inch scroll and punch dot engraved wedges on either side of the breech, with the left side wedge enclosing the patent dates and ending in a "F GRADE" marking. Over 95% of the receiver surface is covered in engraving including hand cut model and serial number markings on the underside, a dog head on the triggerguard, and starburst patterns on the screws. Each side of the receiver is decorated with a triple panel scene, featuring a pair of hunting dogs in the center which are flanked by scenes of one or two game birds with the initial "E" (attributed to Custom Shop engraver Carl Ennis) concealed in or near the dog scenes. The stock is extra-fancy deluxe checkered walnut with a beavertail forearm and pistol grip buttstock with Remington grip cap, an unmarked golden inscription panel and a serrated Remington buttplate. Measurements - length of pull: 14 inches, drop at comb: 1 5/8 inches, drop at heel 2 1/4 inches, weight: 8 pounds 6 ounces.

Very good as professionally refurbished with 98% of the blue finish showing some light handling marks overall. Minor spotting is visible on the bolt and other bright components, which are otherwise excellent. The wood is very good with a light crack on the right side of the forearm in the finger groove area, light chipping at the rear, a small amount of play in the buttstock and a number of scuffs and scratches in the varnish, chiefly on the left side. The engraving and checkered are both sharp and well detailed, and the wood grain is superb. Mechanically excellent.
