Description:

Developed in 1908, the Schwarzlose machine gun was an Austro-Hungarian standard during World War I, being used by the infantry, in fortifications, and as aircraft weaponry. At the end of the war, the various successor nations of the Austro-Hungarian Empire kept using the Schwarzlose, with a significant number of them being used to arm the Czech border fortress system during the lead-up to World War II. Blade front and notch rear sights, with the former mounted on the water jacket and the latter on a combination oiler and top cover. The rear section of the lower receiver is marked "WAFFENFABRIK STEYR/1917" on the left and "M.G.(SCHWARZLOSE/M7/12" on the reverse, with a pair of folding spade-grip handles and a thumb button with integral spring-loaded safety Included with the gun is a small black painted field tripod, an (incomplete) field maintenance kit with case, several canvas ammunition belts and an assortment of spare parts, including an extra barrel.

Rating Definition:

Very good, with 95% of the arsenal matte gray finish, showing some light handling marks and areas of brown patina. A few cracks are present in the grips. The tripod is fair, with the traverse mechanism absent and some mild wear overall. Mechanically fine. NOTE: This item is registered with the BATFE as a machine gun, and it is the sole responsibility of the bidder to understand and comply with all relevant laws and regulations.
