Description:

Effectively developed behind Hitler's back due to a blanket ban on new rifle development, the "Machine Pistol of 1944" was listed as a sub-machine gun, but was in fact the forefather of a whole new genre of weapon, the mid-caliber fully automatic infantry rifle. Dubbed the "sturmgewehr" (assault rifle) when Hitler finally got wind of it, arms following in it's footsteps are a battlefield mainstay even up to the current day. This particular example has been converted into a "cut-away" rifle by an unknown party, with long cuts made in the left side of the receiver and buttstock to show the action of the bolt, recoil spring and disconnector. Blade front and tangent rear sights, with a solid flash hider, "MP44" on the left side of the receiver, and a "H.P. UNGER" import mark on the magazine well. Equipped with a functional semi/full selector button, a "F/S" safety switch, sheet metal handguard, ribbed grip panels and a laminate buttstock with a small compartment for cleaning gear.

Rating Definition:

Good as noted, with areas of brown patina and scattered handling marks. Some components may be replacements. Mild scuffs are present on the buttstock, along with a few cracks along the cut-away section. NOTE: While the cutaway work is significant, it is not sufficient for the weapon to be considered "destroyed" by current ATF standards, and as such is registered as a machine gun. It is the sole responsibility of the bidder to understand all relevant laws and regulations, including but not limited to federal, state and local laws. We also provide no promises regarding the feasibility, expense, or safety of restoring this item to firing condition.
