Description:

This is a rare example of an early WWII Russian Izhevsk Arsenal manufactured SVT-40 sniper rifle that is complete with the Tokarev scope mount and a rare 1940 dated Tokarev sniper scope. These SVT-40 rifles were highly prized by both the Finnish and German Army Snipers and were very effectively used throughout WWII, due to their semi-automatic actions and the large capacity detachable box magazines. The top of the receiver is stamped with the rare "Izhevsk Arrow inside a triangle" factory proof mark over "1940" for the year of manufacture. The left side has the Finnish reissue serial numbered, "1886" stamped over the original Russian Cyrillic serial number "CK1550". It also has the correct boxed "SA" Finnish capture/reissue proof mark stamped over the Russian serial number. The stock and handguard both appear to be Finnish field replacement parts as they both unnumbered and unproofed (and have not been sanded). It has mixed (stamped, NOT electric penciled) serial numbers on the various, which is correct for the Finnish captured/reissue rifles. It is fitted with the early correct style, "six-slot" muzzle break. It has an all blued finish with the bolt cover and bolt correctly still in the white. It is fitted with a WWII see-through Tokarev type, saddle mount that slides over the rear of the receiver (using the original receiver rails on the side) and is correctly notched on the top rear hump of the receiver for the cross-pin, (included). The mount has a Tula Arsenal star proof on the back side over a (non-matching) cyrillic type serial number, with several subinspector proof on the underside of the mount. The scope is also a correct WWII type Tokarev sniper scope version that has the correct Russian proof marks stamped on the front end of the scope tube in front the mount. The markings consist of the "Hammer and Sickle/half moon" proof over, "No. 06810". It also carries the "P/square/K:" markings followed by 1966 indicating the scope was refurbished in 1966. It is complete with an original cleaning rod and a scarce, short five-round magazine which gives a lower prone profile. This an early import rifle as it does NOT have any import markings.

Rating Definition:

Fine with 98% of the Finnish arsenal refurbished blue finish on all the metal parts with minor edge and high spot wear, with the bolt cover and bolt assembly still in the white as noted above. The stock and handguard are both in very good condition with a medium brown oil type finish with only a couple of very minor handling marks on the sides with sharp finger grooves on stock with the wood still proud (higher) than the metal parts. The scope mount retains 98% of its arsenal blued finish and fits nice and tight on the rifle receiver and includes the cross pin as noted. The scope retains 99% of its rearsenal blued finish with clear sharp optics. The windage and elevation knobs both work correctly. A very nice looking, desirable WWII Izhevsk SVT-40 sniper rifle rig.
