Description:

This is a unique restored example of a Heinrich Krieghoff "G" dated Luftwaffe contract Luger pistol serial number "100" These "G" dated Krieghoff Lugers are scarce in their own right with this example being serial number "100" making it the last recorded serial number in this series of Lugers. The serial numbered of these Lugers was from "1-100" with only a handful of these rare Lugers even being known or recorded today. The "G" date, was the secret code for 1935 production, same as the Mauser factory used, however these early Lugers used a totally different style of letter "G" than the Mauser factory did, as depicted on page 109 of the reference book "The Krieghoff Parabellum" by Gibson. Many documented/know serial numbers of these "G" dated Lugers are intermixed in the early "S" code Lugers. The top of the barrel extension is stamped with the unique stylized Krieghoff letter "G" with the front toggle has the early "H Anchor K/SUHL" markings with the B-2 style die stamp, that has the symmetrical blade, with the oval handle with the words "SUHL" slightly slanted to the right with the flat bottom "U". This die was found on the later "G" and early "S" code Krieghoff Lugers. The right side of the barrel extension is stamped with the LWaA 1st inspection/Acceptance, stage I-Early stamp, followed by the Luftwaffe test proof and a second LWaA acceptance proof. The barrel is marked on the underside with only the bore diameter "8,82/Eagle 2" acceptance proof and no serial number. The left side of the breech block is stamped with early Luftwaffe Test proof over a "Eagle/2 proof". The under side of the toggle train are both stamped with Luftwaffe acceptance proofs along with a number "1" (for serial number 100) with "00" stamped on the rear of the toggle. The firing pin and retainer are both unnumbered, however both are proofed with a "Eagle/2" acceptance proof. The back side of the sear bar has been scribed with serial number "100" also. The left side of the barrel extension is numbered "100" with no number on the recoil lug and no alignment mark on the barrel or the barrel extension, which is correct for these lugers, as this was the very start of their production. The side plate, trigger and take down lever are all numbered "00" and correctly all have an "Eagle/2" proof. The safety lever and safety are both unnumbered with only the safety having a Eagle/2 proof. It is fitted with an early set of thick, coarse checkered walnut grips that are unnumbered and unproofed. It is complete with two P08 magazines; one an early all blued magazine with an aluminum base that is stamped with an inverted "Eagle/2" proof over serial number "7161". The other magazine is a very late war type three all blued version that is marked: "fxo/Eagle 37" and "P08" that also has an aluminum base that has been restamped with serial number "100" to match the Luger.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 95% of a restored two-tone blued finish, with the barrel, side plate, breech block and rear toggle all having a slightly purplish tint to them with the remaining parts all having a higher polish blued finish. This finish is very similar to that which was applied by the Mauser factory in 1942/43. The other smaller parts retain 80% of their straw colors overall. The grips are also in very fine condition with nice distinct coarse checkering on both sides, with light wear across the tops of the checkering with a couple minor handling marks/pressure dents on the right middle side. Mechanically excellent. This pistol has matching numbers on the various parts as noted/listed above.
