Description:

This is a standard pre-WWI German Luger that was manufactured at the Erfurt Arsenal in Erfurt Germany. These were manufactured from 1908 to 1913 with many thousand being manufactured. This particular example is unique in that it has a stock lug which began with the 1914 Military pattern. The chamber area is dated 1913 and the front toggle has the "crown/Erfurt" markings. The right side barrel extension has the standard three "crown/script letter" proofs followed by the Imperial Eagle firing proof. It has the standard military style serial number placement and markings, with the full serial number on the major parts with the small parts stamped with the last two digits (48) of the serial number. It has the later style hold-open device in the frame. Standard safety and extractor markings. These Erfurt manufactured Lugers were typically stamped with either a crown over a script letter or "RC" Erfurt inspector proofs on the various small parts and this example follows that pattern. It has a rust blued finish with straw colored small parts. It is complete with one WWI era, tin-plated magazine with an original wooden base. The base is stamped with only a small "crown/letter" proof mark.

Rating Definition:

Excellent with 97% plus of the original blue finish overall with some minor blue touch up on the muzzle area and rear grip strap. The various smaller parts retain 85% of their bright original straw color overall showing slightly less on the take down lever. The grips are in excellent untouched original condition with nice distinct checkering overall. Mechanically excellent.
