Description:

Blade front and notch rear sights, with "1910" date on top of the chamber and "DWM" monogram on the toggle. The right side of the barrel extension has a pair of "crown/gothic script" proofs next to the Imperial Eagle firing proof which is repeated on the barrel and breechblock, and a small script proof was added to the right side of the frame where the hold-open was installed, as appropriate for arsenal-performed upgrades to the early military Lugers. Excluding the magazine, external numbers match. The front strap is unit stamped "4.U.3.11.", indicating issue as the 11th Luger of the 3rd Squadron of the 4th Ulahnen (1st Pomeranian) Regiment. The 4th was established in 1815, fought with the Seventh Coalition, and also saw action against the Austrians and the French again in 1870. When World War I broke out they were with the 1st Cavalry Division, part of the 8th Army on the Eastern Front, later transferred to the Western front as part of the 7th Cavalry Division, being posted at Alsace, Artoirs and Flanders. In 1918 they were reconfigured as a "Schuetzen" (light infantry) unit, and would be disbanded in 1919.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 75% of the original blue finish, showing bright wear along the edges, scattered patches of light spotting and a few scattered handling marks. Bright and vivid colors are present on the straw-finished components, with niter blue visible in the protected areas. Grips are good, with some dents and scuffs. Mechanically excellent.
