Description:

P.J. Mene (Fr: 1810-1871). Another great animalier bronze done by a superstar of French sculptors, P.J. Mene. The bronze shows two male rams locking horns on a face to face conformation of which will get the prize of the land, the females and the loser gets nothing but a sore head! One ram has both front hooves above the ground as the opposing ram has only one foot up and the other three hooves on the ground. By shear force, the ram with three hooves on the ground is better able to standoff the other rams advance. Each ram has detailed curved horns and muscular bodies. The whole two rams rests on an elevated bronze rocky crag. The bronze is signed on the bottom of the statue "P.J. Mene". Dimensions are 42" by 20". Weighs approximately 75lbs. The entire statue rests on a square black marble plinth.
