This elaborately embellished rifle was engraved at the Mainz, Germany shop of Kurt Jager. Known for their extensive custom work and engravings during the post war period, and particularly popular among American soldiers stationed at the nearby air base and members of the Weisbaden Rod & Gun Club. This particular rifle features extensive tight scroll engraving starting with a simple band around the muzzle and a thin wedge just rear of the front sight ramp. The barrel near the breech features a full 4 1/4 inch wedge of detailed scroll with a fine punch dot background. The frame is beautifully engraved with almost complete coverage in floral scroll, and large game scenes in oval panels (see inset photo). The bottom of the frame is marked with "KURT JAGER, MAINZ" The upper tang and action lever are similarly engraved. Features a beaded blade front and elevation adjustable folding rear express sight. Mounted on a nicely figured walnut forearm and pistol grip stock. The stock and forearm feature delicate floral scroll carvings and a finely textured punch dot background in lieu of the standard checkering. The upper tang is fitted with a fully adjustable Lyman peep sight. With a carved grip cap and serrated horn buttplate.

Very fine as custom engraved, embellished and finished in the shop of a Master Gunsmith. 99% of the custom blue present on the barrel and minimal handling marks. The frame and lever have general light handling marks and some small areas of very light freckling. The wood is fine with crisp carvings, good color and grain. Scattered light surface scratches and some light indentations. Mechanically excellent.
