Twin Red Stag European-Style Full Skull Mount on Elaborately Carved Pillow Column From The Kings of Bavaria Collection

King Ludwig III of Bavaria was the last king of Bavaria, reigning from 1913-1918. At the end of the First World War, with the fall of the German Empire imminent, Ludwig III and his family fled to Anif Palace, near Salzburg, Austria. Issuing the "Anif declaration", the king relieved all military personnel and civil servants from their oath of loyalty to the crown of Bavaria, thus ending the rule of the house of Wittlesbach in Bavaria. Twin red stag full skull mounts with 11 and 13 points, each measuring approximately 30 inches high and 30 inches wide, mounted to a hand carved pillow block column from "The Unsinkable" Molly Brown's house in Denver, which was being discarded after the house was restored. Attached to the front of each skull is a crown and "L" of King Ludwig III of Bavaria. The base is approximately 21 x 14 x 10 inches.

ConditionGood. Both skulls shows some separation of the bone plates and a few small chips along the edges due to age, with the pillow column showing a number of splits along the grain. Some light handling marks are present overall.
