Manufactured in 1900. The top barrel flat is marked with the two-line address/1894 patent date in front of the rear sight, "-NICKEL STEEL BARREL-/ESPECIALLY FOR SMOKELESS POWDER" is marked behind the rear sight on the left barrel flat with "30 W.C.F." at the breech. The lower tang by the trigger is roughly stamped "45", and the serial number is on the bottom of the receiver. This rifle features Marbles improved tunnel front sight, rear adjustable Marbles sporting notch sight, a full length magazine and is mounted with a smooth walnut forearm with metal forend cap and straight grip stock with a crescent buttplate.
Good. The barrel and magazine tube retains 30% of the original blue finish with scattered scratches, dings and edge wear along the octagon barrel. The receiver retains traces of the blue finish mottling to a smooth silver finish with scattered scratches and dings. The revarnished wood is good with scattered scratches, dings, pressure dents and varnish loss. Mechanically fine.
