Description:

This revolver's serial number dates to 1871 and was subsequently custom embellished (by an unknown engraver) in the 20th century in a style to duplicate Gustave Young deluxe engraving. It features detailed Gustave Young inspired scroll and punch dot engraving patterns, standard markings, and a one piece grip with carved eagle and shield motif on the left side. The revolver comes in a antique presentation case with brown velvet lined interior divided into fitted compartments for the following accessories: Eley Bros. cap tin, several lead bullets, Colt patent "44H" dual cavity bullet mold, combination tool, packaged Colt combustible cartridges for a "COL COLT'S PATENT/NEW MODEL/REVOLVING HOLSTER PISTOL", and a silver finished Colt patent powder flask.

Rating Definition:

Very fine as custom engraved and refinished. The revolver retains 98% plus of the blue, silver, and case colors. The grip is very fine with some slight cracks and aged cream and yellow tones. It is mechanically excellent and has crisp markings and designs. The 19th century case is fine with stains, pressure marks, and fading on the interior and overall minor storage wear. The old original period flask are all very fine with most of the silver plating remaining. The bullet mold is replated.
