Excellent First Generation Colt Single Action Army Revolver

This is an excellent example of a late production, first generation Colt Single Action Army revolver as manufactured in Dec. 1925. This wonderful revolver is chambered in the desirable 45 Long Colt cartridge and the top of the barrel is stamped the short two line barrel address of: "COLT'S PT.F.A. MFG. Co/HARTFORD CT. U.S.A." with the noted "45 COLT" on the left side of the barrel. The left side of the frame is stamped with the two line patent dates of: "PAT SEPT. 19 1871./JULY 2.72 JAN.1975" followed by the Rampant Colt. The left side of the trigger guard is stamped with a "3" over the Colt VP (verified proof) factory triangle proof. It has the late production feature of the full serial number (348175) stamped on the front, underside edge of the frame with the same matching serial numbers stamped on the "right" side of the trigger guard and back strap, under the grip panels. The right rear edge of the frame is stamped with assembly number "861" and on the face of the loading gate. The rear cylinder face has the number "75". Standard blade front and frame notch rear sights, blue finish with casehardened frame and hammer and fitted with checkered hard rubber grips featuring the Rampant Colt in an oval at the top. Both grip panels are numbered to the gun.

ConditionExcellent with 95% of the original blue finish remaining overall with edge and high spot wear with some blue loss on the sides of the cylinder, which also shows a light drag line. The frame, hammer and trigger retain 90% of their case colors overall, starting to fade slightly on the recoil shield and sides of the hammer lightly. The grips are in excellent condition with nice distinct checkering on both sides with some minor handling marks present. Mechanically excellent.
