This is an unique example of an original Walther Model PP factory cutaway pistol that is chambered in the scarce 9 mm Kurz that is equipped with the bottom magazine release feature. This example is fairly unique in that it is marked on the "right" side of the pistol (instead of the left) with that side showing the majority of the factory cutaway features, indicating that it was intended to be displayed as an instructional piece or salesman sample probably in the Walther factory. The pistol correctly has no factory serial number nor any proof marks indicating it was pulled directly from the initial production run. The left side of the slide shows a single large cutaway section exposing the recoil spring, receiver barrel lug and barrel retaining pin. The right side has the standard factory marking, only reading in reverse as follows: "Mod PP" followed by the factory WALTHER banner, followed by the two line markings of: "Waffenfabrik Walther, Zella-Mellis (Thur)/Walther's Patent Cal.9 m/m". The right side is completely cutaway in the upper rear section of the slide showing the firing pin, firing pin block, loaded chamber indicator, extractor retainer pin and then the side of the frame showing the hammer block and sear/disconnector engagement. The grip and magazine have also been cutaway to show the internal areas and then the lower rear corner of the grip and frame are cutaway showing the new bottom magazine release mechanism. It has the early 60 degree safety and is fitted with the correct Walther marked 9 m/m magazine, the pistol has the early high polish blue finish with the heat blued smaller parts.
